WOMINJEKA!

We acknowledge that we are gathered on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation and particularly, the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to the elders of our community, past, present and future, for they hold the customs, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia. The land upon which we are gathered, is, was and always will be, Aboriginal Land.

Mainstream

In the mainstream classes, we work towards a common goal of a differentiated learning approach as we recognise that all learners are individuals. Learn More

Steiner Stream

In the Steiner inspired classes, there is an emphasis on a comprehensive approach to learning, dedicated to engaging the whole child, with a special focus on the arts, and a rich, narrative-based Main Lesson curriculum. Learn More

Indigenous Studies

The Indigenous Studies program is unique to our school and gives our students the opportunity to study one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Learn More

Principal’s Welcome

Wominjeka

I am delighted to welcome you to our diverse and vibrant school community.

At Thornbury Primary School we acknowledge we gather and learn on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, where we encourage all students to appreciate and celebrate the richness of the world’s oldest living culture. Our commitment to Indigenous education is reflected right across our school and in all our programs, including learning Woiwurrung language and respecting culture.

We are dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive community where every individual feels valued, respected, and included. Our school is a place where differences are celebrated and diversity is embraced. We believe that in this inclusive environment, students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as we continue to learn and grow as a community, and I look forward to celebrating the development, achievements, and successes of our students.

Victorian State Schools Spectacular

SPLASH

We are proud and excited to have some of our students participating in the 2024 Victorian State Schools Spectacular: SPLASH!

Students from across the state are working together to create a SPLASH – a fun exploration of the beach, sea and rivers.

This live show – involving amazing lighting, music, dance, circus arts and puppetry – will be performed twice to an audience of around 12,000 people at John Cain Arena on Saturday 14 September at 1pm and 6:30pm.

Talented Victorian students will feature on stage, while many other students will work behind the scenes, gaining professional experience under the mentorship of Creative Director Neill Gladwin, Musical Director Chong Lim AM and Dance Director Yvette Lee.

Working Bee Term 3

Spring Update from the Masterplan, Grounds & Enviro Team

With spring in full bloom, our team has been hard at work behind the scenes, focusing on the Masterplan consultation and implementation while maintaining our beautiful gardens.

Upcoming Working Bee
Join us for our next Working Bee on Sunday, September 8th, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Everyone is welcome! This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the school and connect with the TPS community. As we prepare for the first stage of building works over the summer holidays, we need help organizing items in the bike shed, garden shelter, and shipping container. Additionally, we will  be putting together garden beds & irrigation, weeding, mulching, repairing outdoor furniture and tidying up the garden beds at the school entrance. Your help makes a big difference!
